Ready for a tour of Amish country?
Take one of these top ranked tours.

A tour offered by professionals may be your next activity, if you're really interested in the Amish. You've probably already visited one one of the attractions listed on our Information page, and you might have also taken the drive described on our page titled "An Amish Day Trip". If so, you're way ahead of most visitors (and locals), so why go on yet another one? Because a guide can provide insights and/or access to places you otherwise wouldn't get. But that might not be on your agenda; perhaps you'd prefer a trip to an Amish farm. If so, skip this page and go to Farms.

If you want a guided trip we have three to suggest; two by Amish buggy and one by car. Let's cover the buggy rides first since they have a lot of similarities: very good guides, authentic buggies, strong memories, and comparable prices. Of the two for a family experience we give a slight edge to Abe's Buggy Rides; click on the picture to go to their site. They have a choice of five trips, one of which lasts an hour and a quarter. In addition to the ride, they also have a petting zoo, playground, snack bar, and (sometimes) a chance to see a blacksmith shoe the horses. The location is convenient with adequate parking.

Our other choice is Aaron and Jessica's Buggy Rides. It's different from Abe's in that the guides are Amish, and you get a wider variety of places to see - depending on which of their rides you choose. Their location is equally convenient but with more parking spaces. You can't go wrong with either one.

The third suggested trip is by car, either yours or theirs as you choose. Either way you get a highly qualified guide who provides a more personal approach. We haven't been on a trip with them, but they seem to provide a closer and more intimate look at Amish life than their competitors. The name of the company is "Old Order Amish Tours", but since they are Amish they do not have a web site. You can reach them at 717-299-6535.
