Our restaurants span the entire range from fine dining to fast food, expensive to budget, Amish to Vietnamese, and pretty much whatever else you can think of. Based on a quick scan of the yellow pages we'd estimate the county has over 1,000 restaurants of one kind or another. So, where do we suggest that you go?

We like to eat out, but are certainly not gourmets, so we asked a few friends what their favorite Lancaster restaurants were. We also checked some web sites, and used the outcome of the local newspaper's annual customer survey. The result is forty-five places that represent a wide cross-section of what might be considered the best places to eat. They are broken down into five categories: Fine Dining, International Dining, Assorted Dining (Amish, Casual, Seafood, and Steak), Fast Food, and Other (Bakery, Delicatessen, Diner, Dinner Theatre, Ice Cream, and Smorgasbord).

Notes:
1. Places that were selected as best in their category in Lancaster Newspapers' annual Reader's Choices poll are denoted by an (RC) after the establishment's name.
2. Some establishments have more than one location. In such cases we've listed what we consider the most notable location.
3. It would be virtually impossible within the scope of this web site to provide a detailed review of each place, so we haven't even tried. In a very few cases we've added a comment, otherwise only the name, address, and telephone number are given. We've provided Internet links only for those in the Fine Dining category.
4. In four instances a restaurant is listed in two categories; for example, in Fine Dining and Seafood.
