If factory direct shopping is your thing, then the Lancaster outlets are for you. We have two here, both located on Route 30 just a few miles east of Lancaster city and only about a mile apart. They are similar in many ways: modern, well organized, comparable prices, and even a few of the same stores. Both have ample parking and include a variety of places to eat if you're the kind of folks who "shop til they drop". Which is better? They are about the same; where you shop will probably be determined by the stores you like.
The larger of the two Lancaster outlets is
Rockvale Outlets,
located at the intersection of Routes 30 East and 896. It has over 100 stores and restaurants including: Bass Shoes, Black & Decker, Borders, Corningware, Disney, Hanes, Hush Puppies, Lane Bryant, Levi's/Dockers, Noritake, Pendleton, and Van Heusen.
The second of the factory outlet centers is
Tanger Outlets,
the local branch of the chain. It's located about one mile west of Rockvale Outlets. A sampling of its more than 60 stores include: Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Calvin Klein, Eddie Bauer, Gap, Izod, Liz Claiborne, Nike, and OshKosh B'Gosh.
If you don't find what you want at either of those, and aren't exhausted, you can travel about thirty miles north to the outlets in Reading. Those are older and more established, but they're scattered around and not as conveniently located. That said, go for it if you're a dedicated shopaholic.
