Amish things to do.

Lancaster's attractions include many Amish things to do. I should probably have put Amish in quotes here to remind you that it's relatively rare for the Plain People to interact directly with we "English". Most of the attractions I've listed in this section might more correctly be called Amish-oriented since they are operated by the non-Amish among us. In the following pages I've broken them down into three categories: Information, Tours, and Farms. As everywhere else on this site, I've included only those that were enjoyed and recommended by friends and/or Joan and I. Shopping isn't addressed because it's included in the broader SHOPPING category. Whatever attractions you choose, always remember to slow down and enjoy the our peaceful countryside.

As I noted on the Amish Country Tour page, a good place to start is with an understanding of what they are all about. To that end you might want to start with the Mennonite Information Center or the The Amish Experience at Plain & Fancy Farm; for more information about either of those, click on Information. Or, you may wish to start with a different approach and visit either The Amish Farm & House, or the Hans Herr House. Click on Farms below for more information. Following those a tour could be in order, either by buggy or car; click on Tours.
