Want to get close to the Amish?
Then stay in an Amish B&B.

Although there are many places to sleep overnight near the Amish, there are very few that offer the opportunity to do so on an authentic working farm. Of those we have two recommendations, either of which provides a unique and unforgettable experience. But let's be clear, we have not stayed in either one and are listing them based on the recommendation of others.
The following applies to both places. They are listed as guest houses; B&Bs since they provide breakfast. They are located in the heart of the community. They comply with Pennsylvania law in providing electricity and bathrooms. They are small. Neither has a web site and must be contacted by telephone or U.S. mail. They have brochures available and are members of the Pennsylvania Dutch Convention & Visitors Bureau.


Smucker's Farm Guest House is located at 484 Peter's Road, New Holland, PA 17557. The phone is 717-354-6879. It has an air conditioned suite with a queen-sized bed and private bath. It also has two air conditioned rooms that can accommodate eight people, with a shared bath. Additional cots are available. All rooms have access to kitchen facilities and a living room. A country breakfast is provided.
